Cross Dresser

When I got out of the shower this morning, I heard wailing and cries of "I no wan' be ballerina." I found this:

Notice the tear-stained cheeks. He's clutching his moo-moo for dear life.

You can't tell in the picture, but he has a bikini on, too.

Poor little man.

Can Touch This

We've had a busy weekend of hands-on fun in our little community. First, we went to "touch the trucks." Our department of public works brought all their vehicles - diggers, dump trucks, tractors, etc. - to a local park. Kids were allowed to climb in, out, and all over everything. The little man was in heaven! Caroline actually had a blast, too. Of course it helped that we met up with the preschool bff. :)

This morning we went to our yearly "Barn Babies" event. A local farm brings baby bunnies, kittens, puppies, pigs, goats, and chicks for the kids to love and touch.
Not exactly my best photographic work, but I was balancing the camera, a huge cup of coffee, snacks, juice boxes, and coats single handed-ly. :)

Caroline loved that the pig was wearing a diaper.

Hope your weekend has been as nice as ours!

My Little Artist

I adore Caroline's artwork. I especially love that she can literally spend hours at it these days. I just bought her a ton of new markers after realizing that she was down to about three (no wonder every picture prominently featured orange) and she's been on a tear ever since.
This was my Mother's Day gift when I woke up that morning. I love that there is a mama with her baby.

This is a portrait of her princess posse. All dressed up, of course!
Another drawing from Mother's Day. It started out just Caroline and me in matching dresses, but then she decided to add William, too. She thought it was HILARIOUS that she drew him in a pink tutu and ballet slippers.

Happy Mother's Day!

Like every other mother, I have a lot of moments when I think I'll go crazy if I have to sweep the kitchen floor one more time. Moments when the whining is enough to drive me crazy. Moments when I would like to stay in my cozy bed instead of getting up in the pitch dark to make a little person breakfast.

But I also have moments, like today when Caroline drew this picture, where I can't believe my good luck. It's almost too much. I get all this? I get to be the mommy in this happy little family? I am very mindful that life could have turned out differently, but it didn't. I'm a mom. I'm the mother to two amazing little people. I am so, so grateful to be a mom. I am so, so grateful for my babies.

Happy Mother's Day!

Soaking Up the Sun

We've been enjoying the unseasonably warm weather with a little water table play. We had two wet, tired, dirty kids by the end of the day. And then we decided to take them our for ice cream- pure filthiness, I tell you. Bring on summer! but not too soon because I LOVE spring!

I love it when they are sweet to each other...

Babies, you can watch Curious George all day long when you are cuddled up, holding hands.
