Flashback Friday - Potty Training

It is amazing that Caroline has been potty trained for a year already. This was the beginning of such a hard, hard time for me. I was in my third trimester, large and uncomfortable, and just about to start a horrible round of sciatica. I was incredibly lonely; I hadn't really made many friends here yet. Steve started travelling, which was hard on all of us. I was nervous about adding a new baby to our family. And then we started potty training, and suddenly even the simplest outing seemed nerve-wracking and complicated. I remember sitting in a parking lot that first weekend, crying my eyes out to Erin. It is pretty awesome to look at these pictures from a year ago and see how far we've come. I feel great physically. We've added a wonderful little boy to our family. We've got lots of great friends. Caroline is maturing into a delightful, independent little girl. Life is good. :)

Isn't she the cutest little thing in these pictures? It amazes me every time.

Oh my gosh. . . that could be me writing that first paragraph! I'm toying with starting training Hayden, but I'm just not convinced he's ready. Has it really been a year since we were there? I vividly remember our March trip and that's still how I picture Caroline!

What a pretty little girl. In our experience the second was easier to train. However, Jamie was trained by Dad while Mazie and I were babysitting a friend's baby. Dad was A LOT more patient with Jamie than I was with Mazie. I will let you know what happens with Jacob when we start. It will be a while before that happens though. He shows interest but not enough yet to make it work.

isn't it crazy how we think they are so grown when we're with them, and then look back at a picture or video and realize 'she was just a baby!' that's what i've been discovering lately about my own kid:)
