One of the hazards of being best friends with a world-famous
photographer and having some other
amazingly talented photographers as friends is that you sort of lose your appetite for "typical" commercial photography. You can't exactly go to the local mall for portraits of your child and love them when you are used to the incredible talent of friends like mine. And so when
Caroline's preschool announced that school pictures were being taken, I almost gagged. I didn't want to waste my money on
junky pictures when I am so blessed to have (literally) dozens and dozens of
exquisite portraits of my child. But you can't exactly
not order, can you? So I did. And here's what I got:
So here's my question: am I just biased because she's my kid, or is this a pretty cute picture?? It's certainly better than the horrible school photographs I was used to seeing when I taught just a few years ago. I'm sure Erin and Amy are gagging that I'm even asking, but it was a nice surprise this morning. :)
BTW, I can't even stand how old she's looking. And the thought that she'll be FIVE on her next birthday. Two, three, and four all seem sort of the same in a way. But five is BIG. Thank goodness we have almost a year to go.

She is beautiful. I feel the same about school pictures. They are way to expensive for the not-as-good quality you are used to when you have such great photographin' friends! But you can't possibly not order at least one just to have what the kids looked like on that day, right? Caroline is looking older lately but so beautiful! And I do feel the need to tell you 5 is THE big one. It's such a turning point. Sad but wonderful at the same time. At least that's how it was for me with my girls. Jacob may be a different story.
YES that IS a beautiful child! And she does look waaaay too grown up for my liking.
yes FIVE is huge - i'm feeling that for a's next bday. not only that, but then i'm thinking next fall, she'll be five AND A HALF. sheesh, halfway to six. enough already. anyway as one of your photographer friends (thank you!) i feel the same way about pics but always order a new 8x10 and a class pic for posterity's sake. and i'm ALWAYS pleasantly surprised at how much i love 'em!
She is adorable, no matter who takes her picture.
WAAAAY too grown up. I can't swallow that C&S are four. PLEASE don't talk about five yet!

Oh, she's beautiful! And, thanks, by the way! I think I'm going to love having Hayden's school pictures. . . there's just something about having them for posterity's sake. And they definitely have some charm!
I have been very happy with all of Katelyn's school pictures so far...Kennedy's have been so-so. Caroline is so pretty and delicate. Is she still super tiny, she looks about average size to me now? Kennedy is tall...75%, but only 25% in her weight.
